Word Count to Page Count Estimator
Enter your manuscript's word count and trim size to estimate how many pages it'll be once formatted. This is a planning estimate, not an exact count, your real page count depends on your actual formatting.
This is an estimate based on typical words-per-page for fiction and general nonfiction. Heavily illustrated books, poetry, or books with lots of headings and white space will differ.
Common questions
How many words per page in a paperback book?
Roughly 250 to 300 words per page for a standard 6x9 trade paperback at 11–12pt font. Smaller trim or larger fonts fit fewer words per page.
How many pages is a 50,000 word book?
Roughly 180 to 210 pages at standard settings, though your actual formatting will shift this either way.
Is this an exact page count?
No. It's an estimate for planning purposes. Your real page count depends on chapter breaks, headings, and white space in your actual formatted file, use it to plan, not for your final KDP listing.
Why this matters
Page count feeds directly into your spine width, printing cost, and royalty, so it's worth a rough estimate before you finalize trim size and pricing, rather than finding out after formatting is done.
Once your manuscript is actually formatted, KDP Workspace's free Interior Assembler gives you the real, final page count alongside spine width and margins.
